Celebrity Cruises Orders Third Ship in New Solstice Class
Celebrity Cruises today
announced it has ordered a third 118,000 gross-registered-ton

Celebrity brand.
German shipbuilder Meyer

Each of the three ships will be 2,850-guest vessels measuring

staterooms, a higher percentage of balconies and an exceptional
range of guest-inspired services and amenities.
“Celebrity’s Solstice class is more than a series of new ships;
it’s a new class introducing a new program that will further
differentiate and elevate the Celebrity brand,” said Richard D.
Fain, chairman and CEO. “We’re confident our guests and travel
partners will be thrilled with the experience we’ll deliver
onboard. And we’re very pleased to expand our collaboration with

Celebrity’s tradition of breakthrough design and leading
innovations.”
Celebrity estimates the all-in cost of the ship to be
approximately $245,000 per berth, based on current exchange
rates.

five-star dining, and extraordinary attention to detail. Its
nine ships and their service, cuisine and spas consistently

SELLING POINTS
-
LARGER STATEROOMS.
The staterooms feel spacious and roomy, even the inside
staterooms. The balcony staterooms and balconies
themselves are bigger, with more shelving and storage
space in the staterooms. (Ladies – this doesn’t mean
you should bring MORE shoes!)
-
All staterooms have
FLAT SCREEN LCD
TELEVISIONS. These make the stateroom feel
even more spacious.
-
NEW BEDDING!
The bedding in the staterooms is
a
white damask
stripe duvet with down comforter, deep turquoise shams,
bed skirt and bed scarf. These items are gold in the
suites (see pictures on link). The mattresses are thick
and comfortable. This new bedding is currently being
rolled out
ACROSS
THE FLEET, and will be on every ship by April of 2007.
Also, the towels are soft, fluffy and luxurious.
Towels will be rolled out with the bedding.
-
The Freedom Class
builds upon the amenities of the Voyager Class Ships,
here are the
KEY
STANDOUTS below:
-
POOL DECK
– the pool deck is incomparable – it is truly a
water park at sea. The new H2O Zone is remarkable.
This is an area (supposed to be for kids, but they
might have competition with the adults) where there
are brightly colored sculptures that shoot our
water, a waterfall, mini-lazy river and shallow
areas for sunning and splashing.
-
SOLARIUM
– this is our adults-only (16 & up) pool area with a
Jungle theme. The cantilevered whirlpools on both
sides suspend 112 feet over the ocean surrounded by
glass and an infinity edge.
-
At night, the
Solarium transforms into
CLUB TWENTY,
a hip, South Beach style outdoor dance club. The
pool lights up and the bar is surrounded by
twinkling lights and white curtains. A DJ booth is
set up on the bridge over the pool playing
lounge-type techno.
-
SHIPSHAPE FITNESS CENTER
boasts a full-size boxing ring for Kickboxing
Aerobics, an aerobics room, spinning, pilates
machines and state-of-the-art fitness machines. All
of the cardio equipment has a personal television on
them. This is our best gym yet. Your fitness buffs
will LOVE it.
-
PRESIDENTIAL SUITE
– sleeps 14
guests, 2 master bedrooms and 2 bedrooms. The
interior is 1,215 square feet and the balcony is 810
square feet. This is an excellent suite for your
guests that want to stay with their family or for
corporations that need a suite to host meetings
and/or entertain in.
-
ROYAL PROMENADE
serves at the “heart of the ship.” This is a city
street down the center of the ship lined with
Vintages, our wine bar, the Bull and Bear, our
English Pub, Café Promenade, Seattle’s Best Coffee,
Perfume and Cosmetics Store, Ben and Jerry’s Ice
Cream, A Clean Shave (a barber shop), Sorrento’s
Pizza, and more. We have also added a new logo
store, Get out there, with Royal Caribbean logo
workout wear and yoga wear. Twice a week during a
7-day cruise, the sides of the Royal Promenade are
roped off and a parade proceeds through the Royal
Promenade. The costumes are magnificent, and the
characters involve the crowd. It’s a nice extra to
look forward to onboard.
-
ENTERTAINMENT
– Freedom of the Seas features the best
entertainment Royal Caribbean has ever had. The new
production shows, “Once Upon a Time” and “The Rain,”
are top-notch, and the talent is amazing. The ice
show (which is on twice per week) in Studio B is a
must-see. The ice shows are free of charge, but
seating is limited, so a ticket must be requested
from guest relations on the ship. On-Air is a new
karaoke venue, and it is always entertaining to
watch the good and the bad take their shot at their
favorite song.

The Latest at Carnival Cruise Line
Wide Variety of Product Enhancements
As part of its “Today’s Carnival” product enhancement strategy, the
company has introduced the new Carnival Comfort Bed sleep system
featuring plush mattresses, luxurious duvets, high quality linens,
and comfortable pillows, including a “suite pillow” menu for guests
in suite accommodations.
Additionally, continuing the line’s increased emphasis on enhancing
its culinary offerings, world-renowned French master chef Georges
Blanc, who has maintained the coveted three stars from Michelin for
25 years, is creating one-of-a-kind gourmet appetizers, entrees and
desserts for Carnival’s main dining rooms, Lido restaurants and
supper clubs fleetwide. Blanc and his staff are also providing
training to Carnival chefs both at his restaurants in Vonnas,
France, and aboard the line’s ships.
Both of these enhancements are available on select Carnival vessels
and are expected to be implemented fleetwide in 2006.
Record 525,000 Kids Aboard ‘Fun Ships’
With the continued expansion of its family friendly amenities,
Carnival expects to carry a record 525,000 children in 2006 – a 325
percent increase versus 11 years ago. Recent enhancements include
the new fleetwide “Club 02” teen program developed in tandem with
The Coca-Cola Company and featuring expansive facilities, a
dedicated teen counselor aboard each ship, as well as a variety of
new “Camp Carnival” activities focusing on art, reading, science,
geography, and physical fitness for younger cruisers.

Carnival Expands Wireless
Carnival
Cruise Lines, the world’s largest cruise operator, is expanding
wireless Internet access to all public rooms and suites aboard ALL
of our 21 ships by the end of 2006.
With the installation of strategically located Wi-Fi "hot spots,"
guests sailing on Carnival can now access Web sites and send e-mails
via any wireless-equipped laptop computer from virtually anywhere
aboard ship, including all lounges, bars, pool areas, open decks,
dining venues and suite accommodations. Carnival Valor and Carnival
Liberty already feature "100 percent bow to stern" wireless access.
The project is roughly 75 percent complete with the balance of the
fleet expected to be completed by year’s end.
"Guests view our ships as ‘floating hotels,’ expecting the same
modern technology and conveniences found on land. The Internet has
become an indispensable tool for staying abreast of the latest news
and keeping in touch with the office and loved ones and we are very
pleased to offer convenient and cost-effective wireless technology
to our guests on a fleetwide basis," said Bob Dickinson, Carnival
president and CEO.
The wireless technology can be added, if needed, into any laptop
simply by installing a non-intrusive "radio card" in the computer’s
PC card slot. Guests are welcome to bring their own computer or rent
a laptop through the ships’ Internet cafes for a nominal fee. Guests
can either use their own Web-based e-mail address or obtain a
temporary account while aboard ship.
In addition to the wireless Internet technology, all Carnival ships
offer Internet cafes featuring flat-panel workstations available 24
hours a day, seven days a week.
*************************
Through an exclusive agreement between Carnival Cruise Lines and
Wireless Maritime Services (WMS), a joint venture of Cingular
Wireless and Maritime Telecommunications Network, Carnival guests
sailing aboard our ships can now use their personal cell phones
while in port or at sea.
"Consumers view cell phones as a necessity in today’s world. We’ve
been exploring cellular phone service for some time and have
developed a capability that provides unparalleled connectivity and
convenience to allow guests to keep in touch with friends, family
members and business associates back home," said Bob Dickinson,
Carnival president and CEO.
"WMS is excited to offer Carnival guests the opportunity to stay
connected while cruising worldwide," said Leighton Carroll, Chairman
of the Board of Directors of Wireless Maritime Services. "Whether
making a voice call, responding to email, sending a picture message,
or accessing the Internet to check on local happenings back home,
what a great convenience for Carnival guests to enjoy the same
features of their wireless service at sea as they would roaming on
land."
Utilizing WMS’ state-of-the-art high-bandwidth technology, the new
fleetwide service is compatible with any cellular phone and enables
guests sailing on Carnival to make and receive calls anywhere in the
world from any cruising region. The technology is currently
available aboard the Carnival Triumph, with the balance of the
line’s 21-vessel fleet scheduled to be completed by early next year.

Carnival's Fascination to Undergo Upgrades
A 35-day
drydock for Carnival Cruise Lines’ 2,052-passenger Fascination,
scheduled to begin in September 2006, will include significant
renovations to a broad range of shipboard areas.
“The
Fascination continues to be one of the most popular cruise choices
from Miami, offering terrific, and value-packed three and four-day
getaways to the Bahamas,” said Bob Dickinson Carnival president and
CEO. “This expansive refurbishment will serve to make a fantastic
ship even better,” he added.
Following its multi-million-dollar renovations, the Fascination will
feature a new nine-hole miniature golf course on Sun Deck as well as
the new Café on the Way, a patisserie serving specialty coffees and
sweets, located along the ship’s Promenade Deck.
Other
new features will include a teen club, part of the line’s ongoing
expansion of its popular “Club 02” teen program. Additionally, a new
1,600-square-foot Children’s World play area, located on Verandah
Deck, will enhance the line’s top-rated fleetwide Camp Carnival
children’s program, which hosts some 525,000 kids annually.
Debuting on Empress Deck will be a new art gallery, where guests can
browse the diverse and stunning array of artwork offered during
Carnival’s popular shipboard art auctions. A new Atrium Bar on the
same level will provide a convivial venue for guests to enjoy
cocktails and listen to music. Other changes on the ship will
include a newly-designed Internet café and a new 1,200-square-foot
conference room.
The
Fascination’s luxurious Spa Carnival will also be renovated and
include new private treatment rooms, updated exercise equipment, and
a host of cosmetic enhancements to the 12,000-square-foot facility.
Staterooms and suites on the Fascination will be refurbished, as
well, to include flat screen TVs, an entirely new décor and
completely remodeled bathrooms. A number of crew areas will also be
renovated.
Additionally, the refurbishment will include upgrades in carpeting
and upholstery, and some modifications to the layout of the aft
lounge and casino area to accommodate larger groups.
Other
enhancements will include a new photo gallery on Promenade Deck
providing guests with an easy and convenient means for viewing and
selecting photos taken by the ship’s photographers during the
cruise, as well as upgraded audio/visual equipment within the
bandstand awning area, located on Lido Deck.
The
70,000-ton Fascination sails year-round from Miami on three- and
four-day cruises. On this route, three-day cruises depart Fridays
and overnight in Nassau while four-day voyages depart Mondays and
stop at Key West and Cozumel.
The
Fascination is one of Carnival’s 21 “Fun Ships” which operate
voyages ranging from three to 16 days in length to the Bahamas,
Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England,
Bermuda, Europe and the Greek Isles.
Three
new ships – the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom, the 112,000-ton
Carnival Splendor, and a 130,000-ton unnamed ship, are scheduled to
enter service between now and fall 2009.

Luxury Cruise
Ship Paul Gauguin Ready for Her Close-up After $6 Million
Refurbishment
More Elegant than
Ever, Returns to Cruising Tahiti and the South Seas Under Regent
Seven Seas Management
Every great beauty needs a little
time-out occasionally, for rest and rejuvenation, perhaps a little
nip and tuck here and there. It’s the least one can do for one’s
adoring public. Thus, if you noticed the legendary Paul Gauguin
luxury cruise ship seemed to have gone missing from her usual haunts
in Tahiti for a few weeks in January, why, she was just getting a
little work done, dry docked in Brisbane, Australia. Recently
emerged from seclusion, she looks ravishing, as if she’d been
pampered at an exclusive and very expensive spa – with a total bill
of $6 million.
She’s got a brand new piano bar, new
casino and five additional staterooms with aft-facing private
balconies, so she can take on 10 additional passengers – but no more
than 330 total. Guests will notice new soft goods, seating and
carpeting throughout public areas – cosmetic touches to update her
appearance. Even the officers’ quarters have been spruced up.
Now in mint condition, the six-star
Paul Gauguin has resumed her full sailing schedule in Tahiti and the
South Pacific. Manages since 1997 by Regent Seven Seas Cruises
(formerly Radisson Seven Seas Cruises) under a contract that
continues through the end of 2008, she was named one of the world’s
top two small ships in 2003 and 2004 by the readers of Conde Nast
Traveler.
The Paul Gauguin’s intimate size,
tasteful elegance and all ocean view accommodations (more then 50%
with private balconies) embrace the dramatic panoramas of French
Polynesia, much as the artist Paul Gauguin’s bold brushstrokes
captured these enchanting island settings more than a century ago.
The ship’s seven-night roundtrip
sailings depart Papeete on Saturdays and visit Raiatea (the cultural
heart of Polynesia), Tahaa (for a call at the ship’s private islet
of Motu Mahana), Bora Bora (for two full days on the island James
Michener used as the model of his idyliic “Bali Hai”) and two days
in Moorea (the inspiration for Herman Melville’s novel Omoo).

Regent
Seven Seas Toasts New All-Inclusive Liquor Package
Regent Seven Seas will ring in
2007 with good cheer … literally toasting its guests with a new
inclusive liquor policy. Topping off its already acclaimed dining
options and personalized service, the recently rebranded luxury
cruise line
will offer select complimentary wine
and spirits at all bars and restaurants fleet wide on every sailing.
“Luxury Goes Exploring” in 2007 with worldwide cruises from seven to
111 nights in length – reaching 21 new ports of call from Kotor
(Montenegro) to Yasawa (Fiji).
“As part of our re-branding to Regent in March, we’re instituting an
inclusive liquor policy across the fleet for all 2007 cruises,” said
Mark Conroy, president of Regent. “Our World Cruises already have
this inclusive liquor policy, and our guests have told us how much
they like it. In fact, we’ve noticed how the policy contributed to
the air of conviviality aboard, with more people getting out of
their suites socializing. It’s this open, intimate spirit of
camaraderie we wish to foster on all Regent voyages.”
While most aspects of Regent Seven Seas’ re-branding will be in
place in 2006, final touches will be applied in 2007 with the
updating of staterooms/suites (including installation of flat screen
TVs) and an expanded roster of personalized Regent Travel Concierge
offerings.

Princess Increases Canada & New England
Capacity for 2007 Season
More passengers
than ever will have the opportunity to view the stunning autumn
colors from a Princess ship next year as the line will offer nearly
20 percent more berths on this popular annual route. Crown Princess
makes her Canada/New England debut in the region and will be joined
by Grand Princess, marking the first time that two of the line's
largest, amenity-filled vessels will sail the northeast coast.
In total, the two ships will offer nine departures on three
different itineraries. Crown Princess will sail on seven-day
roundtrip cruises from New York, while Grand Princess departs on
10-day sailings between New York City and Québec City. Grand
Princess will also sail one Canada & Colonial America voyage along
the full length of the Atlantic coast. The Canada & New England
season will run from September 15 through October 18, 2007.
"These scenic Canada and New England cruises are always in great
demand," said Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of
customer service and sales. "So we are pleased to be able to offer
more passengers the opportunity to experience the breathtaking
views, incredible dining and historic ports of the eastern seaboard.
And there's no better place to view the region's beautiful scenery
than on one of our more than 1,500 private balconies on these two
ships."
The 3,080-passenger Crown Princess' debut in the region features a
seven-day roundtrip itinerary featuring the best of the northeast.
With convenient New York departures from Brooklyn, the itinerary
features visits to Halifax (Nova Scotia), Saint John (New
Brunswick), Bar Harbor (Maine), Boston and Newport (Rhode Island).
The ship sails on five voyages between September 15 and October 13,
2007.
Meanwhile, the 2,600-passenger Grand Princess takes over the line's
classic 10-day Canada & New England voyage between New York City and
Québec City. The route, which visits Newport, Boston, Bar Harbor,
Saint John, Halifax Sydney (Nova Scotia) and Charlottetown (Prince
Edward Island), also features an overnight stay in the quaint Québec
City. Grand Princess' three sailings depart between September 18 and
October 8, 2007.
In addition, Grand Princess will also offer a special 12-day Canada
& Colonial America voyage between Québec City and Ft. Lauderdale.
This journey departs on October 18 and features calls at Sydney,
Halifax, Bar Harbor, Boston, Newport, New York City, Norfolk
(Virginia) and Charleston (South Carolina).
For those who would like to extend their Canada & New England
vacation, Princess offers escorted pre- or post-cruise land tours in
conjunction with these sailings, in which passengers can travel back
through historic America or spend further time in Canada with a
complete cruise tour.

SeaDream Yacht Club – “It’s Yachting not
Cruising”
Condé Nast Traveler, January 2006 Gold List--- Each year Condé Nast
Traveler, the influential international travel magazine, publishes
its “Gold List” readers’ poll on the world’s best hotels, resorts,
airlines, destinations and cruise lines. Eleven seagoing operators
made the “Gold List” in the publication’s January 2006 issue.
According to Larry Pimentel SeaDream President and CEO “The results
delighted all of us at SEADREAM. Not only did we make the “Gold
List” but we came in first in the category of Service for the third
year in a row.” In the Condé Nast Traveler, February 2006 Readers’
Poll--- SEADREAM YACHT CLUB was singled out as one of the world’s
best and, most gratifying, achieved a perfect, 100-point rating for
Service and was given the only 100-point perfect score for Food and
Dining. “What an honor for all of us but specifically for our
dedicated crew members who truly earned this award” stated Mr.

Celebrity Cruises dominates Condé Nast Traveler’s
Readers' survey
Constellation, Millennium, Summit, and Infinity Rank
One Through Four, Respectively
Within the same week of launching its
major new “Celebrity Treatment” ad campaign, Celebrity Cruises
received some celebrity treatment of its own. For the fourth
consecutive year, the line swept Condé Nast Traveler’s annual
readers’ survey ranking “The Best Cruise Ships in the World.”
In the large-ship category,
Constellation, Millennium, Summit and Infinity ranked
first through fourth, respectively. While Celebrity has held the
majority of the top rankings in the annual survey since its
inception, this is the first time the line has held every spot from
one through four.
Galaxy
(ranked seventh) and Mercury (ranked ninth) rounded out the
top 10. Celebrity’s Century – which will undergo a
$55-million revitalization in April of this year – earned a
12th-place ranking. Full survey results are published in the
February edition of Condé Nast Traveler.
Celebrity reprised its 2005 sweep of the
survey’s ratings in the category of food/dining, with Mercury,
Millennium, Century and Galaxy shutting out the
competition. Celebrity’s Constellation and Summit
earned the first and third spots in the category of cabins, while
Galaxy and Constellation ranked second and fourth for
itineraries.
The informed subscribers of Condé Nast
Traveler evaluated ships on five criteria: itineraries,
crew/service, cabins/design, food/dining, and activities/excursions.
“Condé Nast Traveler’s annual
readers’ survey is one of the most prestigious polls in the
business, so this is particularly meaningful for us,” said
Celebrity’s President Dan Hanrahan. “It is an enormous endorsement
of the extraordinary service and experience we offer onboard.
Celebrity Cruises offers a comfortably
sophisticated, upscale cruise experience with highly personalized
service, authentic five-star dining, and extraordinary attention to
detail. Its nine ships and the line's service, cuisine and spas
consistently dominate top travelers' surveys. Celebrity sails in
Alaska, Bermuda, California, the Caribbean, Europe, the Galapagos
Islands, Hawaii, the Mexican Riviera, the Panama Canal and South
America. For more information, please visit the Celebrity web site

Carnival Earns "Best Group Department" Award
from Leading Travel Agent Consortium
Carnival Cruise Lines’ group department has been named “best in the
cruise industry” by MAST Vacation Partners, a leading travel
consortia comprised of more than 135 travel agencies in eight U.S.
states.
The award, which was presented at MAST’s annual awards reception in
Chicago, recognized Carnival’s group department for its extensive
product knowledge, professionalism, enthusiasm and willingness to
“go the extra mile.”
“With
groups such a significant portion of our business, receiving this
recognition from MAST – comprised of some of the most successful and
respected travel agencies in the country – speaks volumes about our
group department’s commitment to providing the highest level of
service in the cruise industry,” said Bob Dickinson, CTC, Carnival
president and CEO.
“MAST is
delighted to name Carnival Cruise Lines ‘Best Group Department’
among our preferred suppliers. MAST members appreciate Carnival's
efficient handling of groups, customer-friendly policies, and value
of group amenities. It's our pleasure to recognize our preferred
suppliers for making our jobs easier and congratulate Carnival
Cruise Lines and the outstanding team in the group department," said
John Werner, CTC, MAST’s executive director and chief operating
officer.
Chérie Weinstein, CITE/CTC, Carnival’s vice president of group sales
and administration, added: “I am so proud of our group sales team
for their commitment and hard work that has brought them this
recognition.”
Based at
the company’s Miami headquarters, with a satellite office in
Colorado Springs, Colo., Carnival’s 425-member group department
works in tandem with MAST affiliates and other travel agencies
across the country booking various groups sailing aboard the “Fun
Ships” each year.
In
addition to group reservations, Carnival’s group department assists
guests in setting up shipboard functions, including private cocktail
receptions and meetings, exclusive entertainment performances,
special on-board programming, and custom shore tours and golf
excursions. The department also includes a meeting, incentive and
charter team catering to these growing markets.

Carnival Earns 8 "Best of" Awards from Fodor's
The Complete Guide to Caribbean Cruises
In the
just-released first edition of Fodor’s The Complete Guide to
Caribbean Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines earned eight “Best Of
Cruising” awards – more than any other cruise line.
Fodor’s The Complete Guide to Caribbean Cruises is to be an
annual publication that provides detailed information on all major
North American cruise operators, along with travel tips and other
information to help consumers select the cruise that matches their
background, budget and lifestyle.
Carnival’s eight “Best Of Cruising” awards included:
-
Best Family Cruise Line
-
Best Specialty Restaurants
-
Best Dining Room Cuisine
-
Best Entertainment
-
Best Sports and Fitness Centers
-
Best On-Board Activities
-
Best Regular Cabins
-
Best Duty-Free Shop
“The
‘Fun Ship’ vacation experience continues to evolve, with increased
emphasis on enhancing virtually every aspect of our product – from
cuisine and in-cabin amenities to entertainment and on-board
activities. The breadth and diversity of the awards we received
speaks volumes about Carnival’s commitment to providing its guests
with high quality, affordable cruise vacations,” said Bob Dickinson,
Carnival president and CEO.
“Rather
than awarding stars or other labels for quality, we strive to give
readers the tools, such as ‘The Best of Cruising,’ to select a
cruise vacation that meets their expectations,” said Linda Coffman,
author of Fodor’s The Complete Guide to Caribbean Cruises.
Carnival is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world,
with 21 “Fun Ships” operating voyages ranging from three to 16 days
in length to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, New
England, Canada, Bermuda and Europe.
The line
currently has three new ships on order – the 110,000-ton Carnival
Freedom, scheduled for delivery in February 2007, the 112,000-ton
Carnival Splendor, slated to enter service in fall 2008, and an
as-yet-unnamed 130,000-ton SuperLiner – to be the largest “Fun Ship”
ever constructed – set to debut in fall 2009.
